For those who simply adore freshwater fish, this restaurant in Serdang Lama is a great destination.
There are a few types of freshwater fish to choose from, but I normally order Tilapia (金凤鱼/非洲鱼). The restaurant serves 2 styles of steamed fish, which are Signature Steamed Fish （招牌蒸） (the fish is steamed with light soy sauce with a dash of ginger paste) and Ginger Paste Steamed Fish （姜溶蒸） (the fish is steamed with generous ginger paste). Actually I prefer the Ginger Paste Steamed Fish but because this time i went with a guy with picky mouth who doesn't like the strong aroma of ginger, so we opted for Signature Steamed Fish.
The fish is served on a special plate with slow fire to keep the fish steaming hot. The succulent fish carries a hint of ginger flavour amid the taste of light soy sauce and the flesh tastes of the clean, adulterated sweetness of the fish. FOr those who like ginger, i definitely recommend the Ginger Paste Steamed Fish. The fish served is covered with a thick, generous layer of green ginger paste. The tangy aroma of the ginger is extremely tempting.The eating environment is quite hot but the fish served is so delicious that customers do not mind perspiring profusely in the heat of glowing embers to savour the fish till the last piece.
Besides steamed fish, there are other dishes served including signature chicken (招牌鸡), signature taufu, wine chicken (花雕鸡), vegetables and so on...
There is also a stall serving delicious Pan Mee here. I like the Pan Mee very much especially the dried version. It tastes superb with the chilli condiment and the crispy ikan bilis.
